UOIT Brilliant FEAS Boot Camp 2016

Brilliant Entrepreneurship will provide a 2 week Boot Camp for students in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS). This intensive 2 week program will give participants exposure to the entire entrepreneurial process from the high of creating an idea to the challenge of execution.

With the support of experienced advisors and catalyst tools, students will have the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality and become company founders.

May 2nd-13, 2016 (Monday - Friday)
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Top companies  will have the chance to obtain placement in the 2016 Brilliant Summer Incubator Program through a pitch competition

All participants, upon successful completion of the bootcamp, will receive a non-academic certificate from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology




Over the 2 week period, classes will be held from 9 am to 4 pm daily.

Students will be put into teams and will work in these teams throughout the program. Student teams will either develop their own unique entrepreneurial idea or be provided with a “simulation” idea. Using the business model canvas as a guide, students will develop their idea and business model culminating in a pitch competition and completed business model canvas.


Over the 2 week period students will cover both basic and more advanced entrepreneurial topics and industry specific topics such as innovation within the automotive industry and the internet of things.

Is this for you?

If you are a FEAS students who is interested in starting a business or in Entrepreneurship in general, this event is for you!  Once complete you will:

  • Be more familiar with Entrepreneurial concepts
  • Understand the details involved in starting up a new venture
  • Be able to formulate and validate a business model



+ Is this event for me?

If you are curious about entrepreneurship then yes it is! Whether you are already an entrepreneur or new to the world of startups, this event will expose you to the process of developing an idea into an actual business!

+ Do I need to be a FEAS student and have a business background?

No, you do not need a business background but it is mandatory to be a FEAS student.

+ Do I have to participate in all days?

Yes, it is mandatory to participate during all days of the program.

+ Who can participate?

This event is open to all students (undergraduate and graduate) who are from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at UOIT.

+ Do I need a team?

All bootcamp participants are expected to join a team. This will provide all participants with an insightful and fun experience and ensure that there are minimal distractions/distruptions for teams.

+ Do I need an idea to attend?

No, you do not need an idea to participate. If you do not have one in mind an idea will be provided to you and your team.

+ What kind of ideas can I pitch?

Ideas pitched must be technology oriented. Although different business models are eligible rofit, social, etc), all ideas must be tech related.

+ What should I bring?

  • Laptop
  • Power Cord
  • Notebook (Optional...nothing like old school!)
  • Lots of creative energy!
